BIOKIBANK was launched in September 2013 to fulfil the needs of embryologists, gynaecologists and assisted reproduction centres at local and regional, national and international level, helping thousands of people in Spain, Europe and the United States make their dreams come true. BIOKIBANK is known for using the most innovative techniques in analysis, cryopreservation and biosafety. In addition, its R&D laboratory is working on various biotechnology projects including VitriStraw®, the new advanced system of aseptic vitrification using a sealed method, an innovative technique for semen vitrification.
The VitriStraw® technology was developed by Prof. Raúl Sánchez of the Universidad de la Frontera (UFRO) in Chile, Dr. Vladimir Isachenko and Dr. Evgenia Isachenko of the University of Cologne in Germany, and Dr. Juan G. Alvarez, Director of ANDROGEN and Medical Director of BIOKIBANK, who also designed VitriStraw® with vitrification materials and equipment with the CE marking for distribution in Europe.
